James
The farmer, rancher, and the one turning big ideas into the work of every day. His favorite part of the ranch is checking on the herd and when new babies are born.
Onion Creek Ranch is owned and operated by James and Chelsea Davis alongside our children, JC and Madelyn, in Ellis County, Texas.
Our story did not begin with generations of inherited land or a ranch passed down through the family. It began with a decision to build something of our own.
We were already farming while James built a successful career in construction. But over time, the work on the land became more than something we did alongside everything else. James made the decision to leave construction and farm full-time, planting for other farmers and continuing to grow the work we were building at home. That journey eventually became Onion Creek Ranch and a desire to raise high-quality beef for local families.
We are first-generation producers. We are still learning, still building, and still showing our children what it looks like to work hard for something worth growing.
You should know where your beef came from, how it was raised, and who stood behind it.
Onion Creek Ranch is a family story still being written.
The farmer, rancher, and the one turning big ideas into the work of every day. His favorite part of the ranch is checking on the herd and when new babies are born.
The voice behind the brand, the customer experience, and much of what keeps the story moving. She loves sunsets on the ranch and capturing moments together as a family on the ranch.
Already learning the work, responsibility, and joy that come with ranch life. JC's favorite thing on the ranch to do is to drive the tractor to feed hay.
Usually close behind in boots and always ready to be part of whatever is happening. Madelyn's favorite thing to do is to scoop feed for the steers and to check on the herd with mom and dad.
We believe raising good beef starts with caring for the land beneath our feet. Our approach includes cover crops, pasture management, and a focus on long-term soil health.
We are not interested in shortcuts. We want to build healthier ground, stronger pastures, and a ranch our children can be proud of one day.
